CMN 200: Intercultural Communication starts on October 20th, 2025. (CRN 12983)
This is an exciting, fully online, 8-week transfer class. If you are a Communication major, this class transfers as part of your core curriculum. If you are not a Communication major, this is an excellent elective class that UA SBS college now allows as a required extra SBS course (beyond the AGEC). Everyone from any major will benefit from taking this class!
Besides, the transfer credit - Why should you take this class?
The world has changed dramatically from what it was even a generation ago. Intercultural encounters now occur in very facet of our lives – in work, play, entertainment, school, family, community, and even in the media that you encounter daily. It means that competent intercultural communication has become essential.
The purpose of this class is to provide you with conceptual tools for understanding how cultural differences can affect your interpersonal communication. We also offer some practical suggestions on how to achieve cultural competence. In this class, you not only will explore your own cultural values and cultural identity, but also will acquire knowledge, motivation, and skills necessary to communicate effectively with culturally dissimilar people.
Additional perk: The class is taught by an intercultural communication expert with more than 20 years of experiences teaching, travelling, and working with more than 117 various cultural/ethnic groups. They are so looking forward to sharing a wealth of these cultural experiences with you and helping you increase your level of comfort and competence needed for effective intercultural interactions.
Pima students,
You will soon be invited to take the Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE). This survey is your opportunity to share your early experiences at Pima and help shape improvements in academic programs, support services, and campus resources. Your feedback will help us better understand students’ early college experiences and guide improvements in academic programs, support services, and campus resources. The survey takes about 20 minutes to complete. You will receive an invitation in your Pima email from gbell1@pima.edu with instructions on how to participate. To ensure everyone has a chance to provide input, you will also receive several reminder emails before the survey closes. We encourage you to take part and make your voice heard — your perspective matters! Thank you in advance for helping us strengthen the student experience at Pima Community College.
